back on track week 2

personal no comments »

well i’m finishing up week 2 back on track. i got all of my workouts in this week and didn’t cheat on a single meal, no snacks no nothing. i did lower body sunday morning, cardio monday after work, upper body after work on tuesday, cardio wednesday morning, lower body thursday evening, and this morning i was up bright and early doing cardio again.

i posted a review of my program over at my learnfitness.com site. in it i went over why i’ll succeed this time around, my goals for this 12 weeks, and things that are motivating me. check it out …

we picked a date for the wedding, friday may 2nd 2003. we are putting the finishing touches on the church and hall as we speak. i will put the names, locations, and any links there may be up when i get them. we’re trying to take care of the high profile hard to get things a.s.a.p. since it’s less than a year away.

i’m now engaged

ok, so excluding a few friends i plan on calling today i think i’ve told everyone in my family and people who are close to me, so now i might as well tell the world.

this past weekend, saturday june 22nd to be exact, i asked amy hitz to be my wife. fortunately for me, she said yes. she was very happy and due to my stealthy actions these past few months i was able to surprise her. i can honestly say she had no clue at all, and if you know amy you know her uncanny ability to guess something before it happens.

we spent the whole weekend doing stuff together, trying to stay out of the heat. she wasn’t feeling that good but we managed to get out and do a few things, including looking at a bike she wanted to buy. we went out to a nice dinner together and then when we got home i popped the question. i was waiting for that perfect moment but the longer i waited the more i realized i just wanted to ask her. i wanted to see her face light up, i wanted to see her smile and feel the joy in her heart. so instead of waiting i just asked, i got down on one knee and asked. she smiled, we hugged, we kissed, she cried … the whole nine yards.

so what were her first words you ask? “are you serious” … hehhehehe … i guess i did a good job being stealthy. of course i was serious she soon learned when i opened the ring case.

i presented her with a diamond and sapphire setting in a platinum band. there were two sapphire’s in the ring, one representing her and one representing me. both of our birthstone’s are sapphires in case you were wondering. it was clean and simple yet still elegant and beautiful which tells you a wealth of information about her and i.

we don’t have an official date yet but are shooting for spring of 2003. yes we know, that’s pretty close. she is applying to p.a. school and would start in june so we are trying to get it in before that. anyone else who’s been to p.a. school can attest to how much time you don’t have for a life outside of school, let along plan a wedding. so it’s either now or 3 years from now.

her family and my family were very happy and happy for us. i’ll keep you all updated as things progress and move along. already we are running around trying to find a hall and church, the two hardest things to get on short notice.

as an aside, before we went over to her parents house on sunday we worked out and then went to pick up her new trek 7700 hybrid. it’s a slick machine with front and seat shocks, xt shifters and derailleur’s, and a plethora of other cool doodads. i know she’s going to love it. finally a bike she can ride off-road with me and feel like she’s in control.

a cosmic close call

well unless something goes drastically wrong between now and midnight tonight, i’ve had a killer week. up on sunday at the gym doing upper body, up early monday doing cardio on my recumbent, after work on tuesday doing lower body at home, walk for lunch on wednesday as well as the elliptical trainer at night, upper body at night on thursday and finally up early on friday to use my recumbent again.

my upper body was killing me on monday and tuesday and my legs were killing me almost all week. my body tends to take 24 hours before it feels pain but for my legs i kept tearing em up with the cardio and then the mid week lower body workout. it felt great …

i ate like a champ this week. except for a small outing of sushi on monday i was literally perfect. no indiscretions, no cravings, one or two pieces of gum and i was set. lots of rice, chicken, tuna, eggs, peanut butter (organic), and wheat bread helped me through the week. lets just say the steamers and i are now getting intimate again … hehehhehehe.

i’m looking forward to my freeday tomorrow though i’m not going overboard. i know amy and i want to goto omega for breakfast and i want to pick up some krispy kreme later in day but other than that we are winging it. maybe a picnic lunch for two somewhere nice …we’ll see.

i’ve been updating learnfitness.com a bit lately so check it out for the latest health and fitness news.

My JavaScript Controls

programming 1 comment »

I’ve been spending some time recently updating my web pages. Adding some dynamic font controls to increase and decrease the fonts, change the font family, and even control the stylesheet used to render the pages. It is all done via JavaScript using this library controls.js. It also relied on some simple cookie reading and writing methods in main.js. These libraries are © 2002 Sean Willson and can be used by anyone so long as your keep the headers in place. Enjoy …

Sorry for not getting that HomeSite extension out that I promised. I’m not sure when or if I am going to complete it. I’m not doing full time Struts work any longer and when I was I didn’t have time. Anyhow, I recently changed jobs and have moved on to other things Java. Look for me to contribute some other web tools to this site in the near future.

well today is the day. like my little java program said yesterday, for those of you that understood it, today i’m kicking ass and taking names. amy and i are going to my gym to work out and use the pool afterwards. i’ve got all my meals and everything planned out so wish me luck. i’ll let you know how it’s going as i progress to being on the right track again.

for a few shots of someone who already beat this obesity thing i suggest you check out one phat man. he used to post journals every day. lately though he had a small surgery and hasn’t been up to it.

not sure if i put it up here or not, don’t see it … anyhow, last weekend or so i put in my order for a portaball telescope. now i just have to wait 10+ months to get it. the countdown has begun.

in case you missed it, there was an eclipse in the sky this past monday. it was to cloudy here to see anything.

welcome my sites new dynamic facelift !!!

you can now on the fly change the size of the font this page is displayed in, the style of font used, and the color scheme used to render this page and all sub pages within this site. i was a bit bored and interested in trying out some new things. i liked the colors of some other sites i saw and i also liked the fonts but at the same time i liked the look of what i had. so in the end i decided to leave it up to you all to make it look like you want.

it will only currently remember your preferences while the browser is open. it won’t do it between visits to my site when you close your browser. that’s just due to how i’m using cookies.

let me know what you think guys. i should have some of the sections coming back soon as well.
