well we’re back from our honeymoon, i’ve returned to work, and now i wanted to return to my blog. the wedding went off without a hitch. after all of the planning, last minute changes, phone calls, worried people etc. there were no problems to speak of. everyone said they had a great time and more importantly amy and i had a wonderful time. we’ve now entered the state of matrimony, does anyone have a map i can borrow?
the wedding was beautiful. i almost cried but held it together, which was good as amy would have killed me. whenever i cry she instantly cries as well and we didn’t want that since she can’t talk when she’s crying. our vows went off well except for a small ring incident. seems amy didn’t like my left hand when i gave it to her so she decided that the ring should be put on my right hand. after we turned back to the front for the rest of the ceremony i just tossed it on my left hand, problem solved. we did find out something weird and ironic though. on sunday when her parents were driving us to the airport her mom told us that she did the exact same thing at her wedding. it can’t be all that bad, their marriage has lasted for over 30 years.
the day after the wedding we had a bunch of people over to our house. nothing major but we figured since everyone was in town, which is a rare event, why not have them over to see the house and us of course. it was pretty cool having everyone there to see our home, hang out, and talk. it takes a lot of prodding to get some of my family out of the house let alone out of the state. it wasn’t anything big just a few drinks, snacks, and then dinner later in the evening after everyone had an excursion into downtown chicago. while they were there amy and i packed and made the
ipod purchase.
on to the honeymoon … we were in the bahamas for 7 days of near perfect weather. it was always in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s and partly cloudy. it rained a few evenings while we were sleeping but other than that the weather was perfect. we spent a lot of time swimming, relaxing, swimming, shopping, swimming, drinking, swimming, and sleeping. did i mention that we went swimming? we even went snorkeling a few times. while we were snorkeling we saw a nurse shark and a 4-5’ barracuda. i kind of freaked out at first when i saw it which was kind of ironic because i was telling amy not to freak out when she saw a fish. after a few seconds i stopped freaking out and just watched it swim near all of the divers, it was pretty cool.
we also visited atlantis while we were in nassau. the fish were cool in their aquarium though the tour was a bit overpriced along with the rest of the resort. i can’t quite get a grasp why it is as expensive as it is. it is really nice but there are so many tourists that i can’t see what the draw is. i guess if we had kids then maybe we’d see it differently. there were zillions of kids in atlantis, well maybe not zillions, just a lot more then we saw at sandals. hehehehheh … in case you didn’t know, sandals is an adult only resort, that was nice. don’t get me wrong, we love kids, just not on our honeymoon.
the plane flight was short but we were laid over in charlotte north carolina for about 5-6 hours because of weather in the midwest. i started a new book that morning and by the time we landed in chicago i had almost finished it. at first didn’t want to leave the bahamas but we were very happy to finally get home.
i’m going to try and get some pictures from the wedding and the honeymoon up this weekend. we took over 200 pictures on the honeymoon and another 150 at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. well we didn’t take them at the wedding or rehearsal, christina did.
