we’ve had the ipods almost a month now and we love them. i use mine every day walking to the train, on the train, from the train to work, at work, and then that in reverse. i’m using it to backup important data from my computer, obviously store my music, as well as store all of my contact information. i still have to figure out how to export my calendar data from palm desktop into the ipod though, anyone have any ideas? anyhow, i love it … not sure how i got along without it. actually i know how, i had a lot of silence throughout my day.

i must admit that we have had a small problem with the ipods though. the ipod comes with a pair of ear nubs that can either plug into the ipod or the remote control. the remote is itself a cable that plugs into the ipod and allow you to control the unit while it’s away in your bag or somewhere else. the connector for the remote control to the ipod has a really small sheath of protection. it’s hard to explain, but most headphones have a rigid yet bendable connector near the plug that jacks in. the ipod remote has a stylish yet nonrugged connector which after only 2 weeks of use was breaking open at the point where the cable connects to the plug. there have been a few threads on this topic in the apple ipod forums. anyhow, i called apple on it because my unit had all of the wires exposed and amy’s was starting to do it and these things were only 2 weeks old at the time. after a few seconds of talking to them we had 2 new remotes being next day shipped to us and we only had to return 1 of our older remotes.

not only are the ipods a remarkable piece of technology but our first experience with apple technical support was impeccable. we’re very pleased so far with our purchase. i have about 2000 songs on mine, all owned music mind you, and amy has about 1300 on hers. i’ll update you as we use them more.
