A Little Bit Closer Now

I’m inching my way closer to releasing my Dark Nebula book series. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s not much further. I thought I’d drop a new post to let you know what I’ve been up to, so let’s get into it.

Last time I wrote about where I was with my newsletter provider. Since then, I’ve written a few custom workflows for new subscribers with lots of great links and stuff. Now I just need my book covers and social media ad images.

The good news is the first draft of said covers are due today. Yes, you read that right, today! Exciting right? Who’d have thought a Monday would come with good news? I hope they arrive today. If not, then I’ll need to drop a message to my cover designer. He’s been great so far, but I can imagine delays happen.

I’m hoping to share some sneak peaks into the cover design process (with my designers permission), once we get a bit further. The plan is to have final covers in a few weeks. He’s working on all four covers in the same timeframe. Yes, you read that right, all four! I’m creating covers for my FREE Novella, Dark Nebula: Contact as well as the first three books in the series. In case it wasn’t obvious before, I’m going all in!

So, you might be wondering when I’m planning to release the books. Originally, I was shooting for early December. I’ve recently been rethinking that. It all depends on how the elections go to be honest. I was hoping to pull it forward into November, but I won’t do that if the election goes sideways. Heck, I might even push it past December if it does. For now, I’m targeting November 9th, 2020 to release Book 1. Let’s hope that world news doesn’t dominate everything and that it makes sense to release it. I’ll keep everyone in the loop when the pre-order is up.

If you’re interested in getting the inside scoop on release discounts when the book drops, then you’ll need to join my newsletter. That’s where I’ll share date and time as well as future discounts and freebies.

To prepare for these dates, I’ve been heads down working on Book 1 and the novella as you can imagine. In fact, the novella is up now for FREE, minus the cover, if you join the newsletter. After the cover is available I’ll drop an updated download link to the newsletter for everyone to re-download the ePub or mobi for the book with the cover image in place.

Which reminds me, Vellum is an amazing piece of software if you’re creating print or eBooks. I easily exported my chapters from Ulysses and into Vellum and created a super high-quality book. I’ve tested it on iPhone, iPad, and Kindle. It works and looks fantastic. Definitely worth the investment.

So with the tooling in place to generate my books, I’m now doing final editing tweaks and read throughs and working on generating all of my publication metadata. Things like Keywords, Blurbs, Categories, etc. Add to that, I’m learning AMS Ads.

Like I said earlier, I’ve been busy 😉

Well, that’s all for now. Keep safe, and happy reading! If you have time, grab that FREE novella and let me know what you think.
